My Postpartum Diet & Fitness Plan - Phase 2

So far I think my postpartum diet & fitness plan has been going well. I've made a few small changes to reduce my sugar intake and up the amount of protein in my diet.

I have however, gone a little overboard with treat meals with my birthday celebrations and other social events this month so I haven't actually lost much weight (only 0.2kg/0.4lbs)..but hey it's better than a weight gain I suppose!

So here are the changes I've made to my eating/exercise plan since last month..

Breakfast
Poached Egg on Wholemeal Toast with Avocado
Instead of Rice Bubbles or Nutrigrain

Hot Lemon Water
Instead of a Cup of Decaf Tea with 2x Arnotts Biscuits and 1x Paleo Nut Ball

Morning Tea
Cup of Decaf Tea with 1x Double Choc Protein Cookie
Instead of Green Smoothie (I have it with lunch now)

Lunch
Toasted Sandwiches on Multigrain Bread
(Ham/Tuna, Corn & Cheese)
No Change

Green Smoothie

Afternoon Tea
Low-fat Yoghurt
Instead of Yoghurt + Tea & Biscuits

Dinner
Healthy Home Cooked Meals (At least 5 per week) including Salmon & Veggies.
Instead of Healthy Home Cooked Meal (At least 3 per week)

Dessert
Cup of Decaf Tea with 1x Double Choc Protein Cookie
Instead of a Cup of Decaf Tea with 2x Arnotts Biscuits and 1x Paleo Nut Ball

Drinks
2 Litres of Water

Exercise
2x 30 minute walk/runs (with the couch to 5k app)
2x Blogilates workouts
2x 30 minute walks with James

I don't always get time for morning and afternoon tea so I try to have a filling breakfast and lunch to keep me going. I've loved going back to the gym and sweating it out too, I just wish I had the time to go more often.. it's a lot harder when you have a little bub with you. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can start working-out outside!

2 Month Postpartum Update!

IMG_1703

It's hard to believe my little man's already 2 months old! He's already changed so much since last month (look at those chubby cheeks!).

Body
My weight has fluctuated lately with birthday celebrations etc so I've only lost 0.2kg/0.4lbs since last month. I've been eating pretty well although I've been indulging in a few too many treats I think! I've started going to the gym a little, probably once or twice a week at the moment and I try to squeeze in walks with James when it's not too cold outside. I'm only wearing the SNC recovery shorts occasionally now.

Height/Weight
I went and weighed him this morning and this little chubba bubba is now 5.5kg (12.1lbs) which means he's put on 1.4kgs/3.1lbs this month! He's now double his birth weight! :O craziness!! I also measured him and he's 61cms which is 8cms more than last month.

Routine
James' routine hasn't really changed much. The main difference is that he now sleeps until 4am most nights (woohoo!). Hopefully by next month he'll be sleeping until 5am.

Sleeping
James is sleeping really well. He now sleeps to around 4am most nights which is amazing. Sometimes he'll wake up with gas pains (poor little man) and needs to be soothed back to sleep. I'm trying some preventative measures now to see if I can reduce his gas pains - I'll let you know next month if they work!

Eating/Feeding
As you can tell by his chubbiness and weight gain, this little boy loves his milk! He's feeding  longer and less frequently which I think is contributing to him sleeping so well at night as he seems to "fill-up" during the day.

Sizes
He now wears size 000 (0-3 months) and I think he's starting to outgrow them too.. he'll be wearing size 00 (3-6 months) in no time! He's outgrown the small cloth nappies (so we've bought some more in a bigger size), and we've moved him up to size infant in the disposable nappies.

Milestones
James is getting so much more reactive to his surroundings. He's started to hit the toys hanging from this play mat (clever boy!) and now copies our expressions (open mouth smile is his favourite!). He's been super smiley and we always hear him laughing in his sleep (it's the cutest thing ever!).

Baby Shower!

I had such an amazing time yesterday at my friend Karlie's baby shower. The setup was pinterest-worthy with delicious food and cute details everywhere. It was so nice sitting in the beautiful sunshine, playing games and chatting with friends. Karlie got spoilt with gifts for her little man (as she should!) and I contributed by making her a motor-bike nappy cake..

It was made with bibs, wraps, dummies, teething rings, face washers, bottle cleaners, nappies (of course), a sippy cup and soft toy. It was so fun and easy to make.. I just followed this tutorial. It was my first attempt at a nappy cake and I have to say, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

What do you guys think? Have you ever made a nappy cake?

OOTD: Freedom

.
.
.
Dorothy Perkins Black Brooke High Waist Jeggings, Ally Fashion Basic Tee,
Bardot Cardigan, Dorothy Perkins Black Lace Up Buckle Boots

I met up the girls for lunch yesterday without James and as much as I love spending time with the little guy, having just a few hours on my own was so nice. Being a mum is so full-on all the time that I think taking little breaks is necessary to "recharge".

I always love catching up with my friends and making time to see them is important to me. The only difference now that I'm a mum is that I have to organise meet-ups around James' schedule (usually during his nap time).

I wore my go-to mummy outfit.. high-waisted jeggings (to hide the belly) and my fave cardi/jacket that is perfect for breastfeeding (easy coverup and faux leather sleeves for dribbles!). I really need to invest in some more cardis like this.

On the agenda for today is a 1st Birthday (with fairy bread I hope!), going to the gym and a night in watching Orange is the New Black.

What are you up to today?

xx
