2 Month Postpartum Update!

IMG_1703

It's hard to believe my little man's already 2 months old! He's already changed so much since last month (look at those chubby cheeks!).

Body
My weight has fluctuated lately with birthday celebrations etc so I've only lost 0.2kg/0.4lbs since last month. I've been eating pretty well although I've been indulging in a few too many treats I think! I've started going to the gym a little, probably once or twice a week at the moment and I try to squeeze in walks with James when it's not too cold outside. I'm only wearing the SNC recovery shorts occasionally now.

Height/Weight
I went and weighed him this morning and this little chubba bubba is now 5.5kg (12.1lbs) which means he's put on 1.4kgs/3.1lbs this month! He's now double his birth weight! :O craziness!! I also measured him and he's 61cms which is 8cms more than last month.

Routine
James' routine hasn't really changed much. The main difference is that he now sleeps until 4am most nights (woohoo!). Hopefully by next month he'll be sleeping until 5am.

Sleeping
James is sleeping really well. He now sleeps to around 4am most nights which is amazing. Sometimes he'll wake up with gas pains (poor little man) and needs to be soothed back to sleep. I'm trying some preventative measures now to see if I can reduce his gas pains - I'll let you know next month if they work!

Eating/Feeding
As you can tell by his chubbiness and weight gain, this little boy loves his milk! He's feeding  longer and less frequently which I think is contributing to him sleeping so well at night as he seems to "fill-up" during the day.

Sizes
He now wears size 000 (0-3 months) and I think he's starting to outgrow them too.. he'll be wearing size 00 (3-6 months) in no time! He's outgrown the small cloth nappies (so we've bought some more in a bigger size), and we've moved him up to size infant in the disposable nappies.

Milestones
James is getting so much more reactive to his surroundings. He's started to hit the toys hanging from this play mat (clever boy!) and now copies our expressions (open mouth smile is his favourite!). He's been super smiley and we always hear him laughing in his sleep (it's the cutest thing ever!).

  2. You look amazing and James has your eyes. I'm glad you liked the booties and I hope the BB cream works better for you than it did for me.

  3. Aww he is so cute! And so good that he's sleeping so long during the night at only 2 months too! I'm so hoping that happens for us soon, we are at 6 weeks. Getting a few longer stretches between feeds at night though which is nice. :)

You are both looking so happy, it's nice to see. Good luck with figuring out the solution to the gas pains - we have that sometimes in the night too, a little cuddle and a stretch and baby seems happy to go back to bed again quite quickly.

  5. Love these updates, as a new mum myself. You guys are doing so well, as he's clearly happy and thriving.

Can I ask, have you done anything in particular to extend his sleep time or is it something that's happened naturally?

    1. Aw thanks lovely :) congrats on becoming a new mummy! umm it's been pretty natural, we just make sure we feed him big at 10.30pm which seems to keep him going longer. Occasionally he'll wake up earlier with a wet nappy or gas pains so I just try to soothe him with the dummy and a cuddle instead of the boob (which I used to do). How many weeks is your little one? xx
