Things to do on Maternity Leave

When I was pregnant I was constantly googling 'things to do on maternity leave' because I thought.. "I'm going to get sooooo bored being at home all day with a baby". Boy was I wrong. Being a mum is a full-time job! I'm so much busier now than I ever was when I was working full-time. It's just a different type of busy. Between feeding, showering, nappy changes, laundry, housework and playing with James.. it's hard to find time to do anything else.

I make use of any "free" time I have by doing fun and productive things like..

Catching up with Friends and Family
I catch up regularly with my sister (who I'm lucky enough to be on mat leave with) to go shopping, watch trashy shows or go for walks. I also meet up with my mummy friends and my work friends during the week and still see my close friends on the weekend.

Building a Herb Garden
James loves playing outside in the shade while I potter away.

Watching Girly Shows
I'm slowly getting through the Gilmore Girls box set and loving every minute of it!


Organising my Closet
It's actually neat and tidy for once!


Going for walks with James
It's been especially nice lately, now that the weather's warmed up.


Preparing for Christmas
Why wait til Christmas to start buying presents! I've been buying presents online and wrapping them as I go. It's been fun and it's going to make Christmas a hell of a lot easier.


Watching my Fave Youtube Channels
I love the SacconeJolys, the Mom's View, Erin and Baby & Amanda Muse. I tend to watch these in the morning while having my brekky :)


Filling out James' Baby Book
This can be a bit tedious but I think it will be such a nice keep-sake for him when he's older.


Going to Mother's Group
I attend a mother's group once a week if I can. It's a good opportunity to talk to other mums who can relate.  I also like the social aspect for little James.


Selling Clothes on eBay
I've been selling a tonne of clothes that have been wasting space in my closet. It's so liberating getting rid of them and making money out of it is just a bonus!


and of course.. Blogging!
I've been pretty slack lately.. I try to blog every few days but it doesn't always happen (as you can tell haha).

There's so much more I want to do on mat leave like go to playgroups, swimming lessons with James, mums n bubs movies (can you believe I haven't been to one yet!) and I can't wait. I really want to make the most of this time off before I have to go back to work (boooo).

I Won't Let You Go..

I am obsessed with this jacket! I love how colourful and girly it is! It's light weight too which makes it perfect for spring. It's a little hard to style though, which is why I've just paired it with jeans and a basic tank for now.

So I convinced my mum on the weekend to adopt a dog, she a terrier x jack russell and although I don't usually like jack russells' she's the cutest, sweetest little dog. She's 9 years old and was given up because her family moved away, so she's spent the last couple of month's at the pound and in foster care. She has the worst name though and I think it will be too hard for us to change it, seeing as she's had it for the last 9 years!.. HER name's Spike! That's right, this tiny little affectionate girl's name is Spike lol. Worst. Name. Ever. I keep acting like she's my dog, I even bought her a bed and toy! I think I'm just overly excited for my mum :)

I've been trying to convince Rob that we should foster a dog (I feel so bad for all the dogs at the pound) but he's worried about kit (our cat). I think she'll be fine but you never know..

A Beautiful Life..

Argh so sorry I've been a baaaad blogger lately! Life just seems to be getting in the way of my blog (stupid life! haha).

Over the weekend I went to the coast to relax and unwind. I've been feeling a bit down lately because my skin's out of control and it's been knocking my self esteem around. I've been finding myself avoiding social situations.. which really sucks especially as we're coming into the social season! I thought it might just be the beauty products I was using but now I'm thinking that I've developed adult acne :( It's just so frustrating! I'm hoping to see a dermatologist soon to get it sorted.

This was a lazy outfit that I wore to the beach and out n about on the weekend. No jewellery or fancy accessories. Just thongs, jeans and a top. Simple. I do love wearing this top though, its so bright and playful.. and instantly puts me in a good mood.

I had such a nice time over the weekend... going to the beach, baking goodies, making delicious breakfasts (using fresh eggs from the chooks), going out for dinner, reading 50 shades of grey in the sunshine... mmmmm I wish every weekend was like this. It was perfect timing too because I just changed jobs! Today was my first day in my new job and it was great, everyone is soooo lovely and I'm actually looking forward to going to work instead of dreading it like I used to.

I've really been loving experimenting with colour lately. Not only with clothes but with makeup too! I think it's because I'm getting over the dull, cold weather here in Canberra and need something to brighten up my days.

So I met up with my besties yesterday and we were all talking about how great it would be to go overseas together.. then all of a sudden it was decided.. we were going America this time next year! haha.

I've never been to America before but I've always wanted to go! It's going to be absolutely amazing. I'm especially looking forward to going shopping over there (drooooool). We're thinking of going to Vegas, LA and maybe San Francisco. I'm SO excited!! I really hope we can save enough money to actually make it happen.

My Birthday!

Woohoo it's my birthday today! I am officially 25!

I have had the most amazing couple of days.. The girls took me out for drinks on friday and we had a absolute blast and yesterday I got spoilt rotten by my hubby who took me to dendy premium to watch ted (hilarious!) then we had massages, went to the casino (I won $110!) and went out for a romantic dinner.. it was perfect.

Today I've just been relaxing and enjoying myself, I did some shopping this morning and got a few nice things (I did a haul video which you can check out here). Now I just want to relax.. maybe read a book.. watch a movie.. eat some cake haha.. I love birthdays!

I absolutely love this jumper! I got it from Topshop when I was in Bali (I squealed so loudly when I saw that they had a Topshop haha). I have been wearing it to death and it makes me really wish we had more than one Topshop available in Australia :( Oh well what can you do...

I feel like I've been neglecting my little blog lately... Work has just been killing me! I've been working long hours and am so exhausted when I get home that all I want to do is veg out in from on the TV. I really hope work eases up soon so I can give my blog the love and attention it deserves :)

Speaking a Dead Language

Felt Blouse, Cotton on Bodycon Skirt, Parliament Necklace, Betts Centaur Wedges

Would you believe I only started getting into bodycon skirts now! Talk about being behind the trends! haha I think I was put off initially as I thought they would be too "unforgiving" but I found this one from cotton-on which is super soft and comfy and doesn't show all my lumps and bumps! I love the colour too and think its wearable all year round.

Last night, a good friend of mine came over for a girls night which was so nice. I feel like I've been running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to get everything sorted for the honeymoon and wedding (only 9 more sleeps!) and it was nice to not think about it all and just relax. It was great catching up with my friend too as she lives in Melbourne and I don't get to see her that often.

I'm super excited/nervous/stressed about the wedding! I think on the day it will be amazing! I just will feel better once everything's all sorted. I still haven't found shoes that go with my dress :S I'm on a mission today to find some (after 4 failed attempts) so wish me luck! No easter chocoloate for me this weekend either :( you'll have to eat some for me!
