Surprise Backyard Wedding!

Wow what a massive day yesterday turned out to be! My brother and his fiance had decided about 5 months ago that they were going to elope in Fiji.. and although we would have loved to have been there, we were supportive of their decision.

So we all got together yesterday to wish them well before their departure to Fiji. What we didn't know and soon found out is that they had no intention of eloping and had been planning a surprise backyard wedding the whole time. The result was a flawless, emotional and magical day.

It was the most beautiful ceremony, their vows to each other were so heart-felt and personal. It couldn't have been more perfect and I'm so happy that we were there to share it with them.

Here are a few more happy snaps from the day...

We had such a great time and are so happy for those two lovebirds.

Our 2 Year Wedding Anniversary!

2 years ago, I was lucky enough to marry the love of my life.. 8 years together and he still gives me butterflies and makes me laugh like no-one else.

At our wedding, we asked guests (immediate family & partners) to bring letters addressed to us instead of gifts. These letters (including ones Rob and I had written to each other) were placed in a box during the ceremony and the celebrant explained that we would open one letter every anniversary. I'm really glad we did this, as it adds another exciting element to our anniversary each year.

We also included in the box, memorabilia from the wedding day (photos, music, small gifts) and a bottle of red wine to open on our 10 year wedding anniversary.

This year, Rob surprised me by delivering a bunch of beautiful red roses to my work (he's so sweet). We then went out to dinner at Flint in the Vines and opened one of our letters.

It turned out to be a letter from my mum's partner, Ian, who had written us a really beautiful and thoughtful letter. It was so lovely to read. Dinner itself was amazing too. I had the lamb backstrap and Rob had the braised honey pork loin.

After dinner, we came home and watched a little clip I made with pictures and video from our first 2 years of marriage (with sappy love music of course!). It's kind of a tradition I've started. It makes me feel so loved-up watching it, especially the part where we read our vows to each other - makes me teary every time!

Our world is going to change between now and our next anniversary. It won't just be us two anymore.. we'll be a family and I can't wait!

Our wedding feels like forever ago now (even though it was only in April), every time I think of that day I get butterflies and can't help but smile. It was the best day of my life and I couldn't have been happier with how everything went. I love that we kept it small and intimate, and I was soooo thankful that we got nice weather. There were, of course, a few hiccups.. I only had 15 minutes to do my makeup with a little hand mirror (don't ask lol), the stitches on the left sleeve of my dress came undone just before the ceremony and one of my contacts slipped to the back of my eye while walking down the aisle (too many tears!) and I had to pull it out during the ceremony.. luckily no one noticed! None of this mattered though, seriously, all I cared about was marrying my best friend and nothing could bring me down from the natural high I was on. I can't wait for you to experience it if you haven't already! It is the most amazing feeling.

All photos were taken by Jonathan from Vibrant Photography. He did such an incredible job.

The time has come..

Robbie and I are all packed and ready to head off tomorrow to our wedding destination! We're getting married on Monday and I am SO excited!! I just hope it doesn't rain :( you'll all have to cross your fingers and toes for me that we get nice weather!

I can't wait for our honeymoon either! 6 whole weeks in Bali and Thailand mmmmm it's going to be bliss! I'm hoping to be able to blog/vlog while I'm over there (and also share some pics from the big day) but I'll have to see what the internet connection is like.

Either way the next time you'll hear from me I'll be a married lady! hehe still can't believe it.

Talk to you all soon (from Bali I hope!)

Wentworth

Robbie and I just got back from our weekend away in Sydney (we had today off for canberra day - woohoo)

I didn't take too many pictures for you guys while we were there as it wasn't a very eventful trip, we just went to meet with our celebrant to finalise some paperwork for the wedding.

I did however want to share some pics from this cute little place we stayed at in Arncliffe..

I love the room decor, it was so homely :) The room was pretty cheap too so I was surprised that it also included breakfast!

I don't know about you but I much prefer staying at places like this over hotels. Oh and in case you were wondering this place was called Wentworth.

I also did a little shopping in Sydney and found some wedding shoes which were 75% off (bargain!) I thought these were nice and high and not too formal so I can wear them more than once (that's the plan anyway!).

Do you guys like them?

Only 5 more weeks till the wedding! Can you believe it!?

A Thousand Years

Bardot Tee, Baby Pie skirt, Betts wedges, Pink stitch bracelet,
Thrifted bag, Essie Meet Me At Sunset nailpolish

I got this cute little skirt for $20 from one of my favourite shops.. Felt. I discovered it about 6 months ago and have been shopping there so much! It's hard finding places to shop in canberra as there are so few stores that everyone ends up wearing the same thing! Felt is a little hidden which I like, so most of the time I can pick up something semi-unique.

Yesterday I curled my hair as a trial for the wedding, it got me all excited for the big day.. even though it's still 3 month's away. I'm pretty happy with how my hair turned out and it was easy to do so I think that's one less thing I have to think about. I still have to work out how I'm going to do my makeup.. I think something natural. I don't think I'll use fake eyelashes or anything too dramatic.. it's only going to be around my family after all.

Click here if you want to see pics of my hair, I'd love to get your thoughts. Oh and i'm planning on wearing some sort of hair accessory in it too.
